PT Bukit Asam (Persero) or PTBA aim to get a hat-trick on Gold category Proper Award in 2015. After consecutively awarded on Gold Proper in 2013 and 2014. The rating program (Proper, Program Peringkat) was based on the assessment of company’s performance in environmental management done by Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MOEF). Of the 1,908 companies were assessed, only 9 Company (0.47%) who received the highest category or Gold rate. PTBA is the only company of the national coal industry awarded this rate.

To realize the company's vision to become a world-class energy company that concerned about the environment, PTBA has diversified its business. The diversification is achieved through the power plant provider business, gasification, and coal belt methane (CBM). Resource conservation demands made PTBA as energy companies that oriented to efforts for efficient use of energy and water conservation. Energy conservation, water pollution control, management of hazardous and toxic waste (B3), reduce, reuse and recycle for non B3 waste, air pollution reduction and biodiversity are some environment programs run by PTBA.

In order to keep Gold Proper, in running operational activities, PTBA follow sustainable development principle. It emphasis on environmental conservation and natural resources by setting clear policies and continuous improvement. In conucting business, PTBA not only comply with regulations in the field of mining, forestry and the environment. For example, the MOEF Regulation No. 3 year 2014 about company's performance rating in environmental management. PTBA not only try to comply with and meet it, but also strive to beyond compliance.
