19 Bukit Asam New Employees Help Community Empowerment

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) held a Live and Contribute to Local Communities activity for new employees in the onboarding program. 19 new employees participated in this 5-day activity from 10-14 October 2022.
They are required to contribute and identify community needs in PTBA Sustainability assisted villages in Lahat and Muara Enim (Prabumenang Village, Tanjung Hamlet, Lingga Village, Mandala Sebrang, Tegal Rejo Village) that can be realized through PTBA's Sustainability program.
Participants were divided into 5 groups of 4-5 people to live with and involved in social activities of local residents. They must engage in the Sustainability Development activities or provide ideas for potential economic improvement of the village they live in. At the end of the activity, participants are required to make a presentation about community development activities proposal or business ideas to improve the local economy.
PTBA AVP Sustainable Economic, Social & Environment Mustafa Kamal said that in line with MIND ID's noble purpose “to explore natural resources for civilization, prosperity and a brighter future”, this activity aims to build employee empathy for the surrounding.
"We expect to find a local business for us to record and follow up. You have worked at PTBA for 1 or 2 years, please maintain good relations with your host family,” said Mustafa Kamal to the participants.
Representing the participants of Live and Contribute to Local Communities, Ari Sukma Siregar hopes that this activity will continue in order to increase PTBA's role in empowering communities around the company’s operational area. "In our opinion, the Sustainability work unit’s CSR activities are very good and greatly beneficial for the community," he said.
