2 Bukit Asam Employees Receive Honorary Award from President Jokowi

Jakarta, August 17, 2022 – On the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) bestowed the Satyalancana Wira Karya Honorary Award to employees of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and SOE in the energy sector.
Two members of the MIND ID Group – VP of Production Equipment Maintenance & Mine Support of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Slamet Widodo and VP of Environmental Management & Mine Support of PTBA Amarudin – received the Satyalancana Wira Karya Honors. PTBA is a member of the mining holding group MIND ID managing coal sector.
Satyalancana Wira Karya was awarded for their great service to the Indonesian nation and state in the mining sector that is beneficial to the environment and thus can be role models for others.
Slamet Widodo received the Honorary Award for his achievements in innovation of digital technology use, while Amarudin succeeded in implementing the Green Mining System.
"We are proud of their achievements. This is some dedication that must be followed. We hope that their achievements can inspire others," said PTBA President Director, Arsal Ismail.
Widodo received the Wira Karya Satyalancana for the innovation on optimization and integration of the Coal Handling Facility (CHF) System through the application of industrial technology 4.0 at PTBA. With this innovation, the filling and weighing of coal into train cars is done automatically and can be monitored with a mobile phone, resulted in faster process time and higher coal production capacity from the mine site to the port compared to competitors.
In addition, Widodo together with the Electrical Maintenance Work Unit created an integrated Operational Monitoring System so that software maintenance, troubleshooting, and control system analysis at PTBA can be done remotely. Data analysis is easier and more accurate because all operational data is stored automatically and in real time.
Meanwhile, Amarudin was awarded the Satyalancana Wira Karya Award for his innovation in the floating wetland method as an effort to control acid mine drainage. Amarudin and the Environmental Management & Mining Support Unit (PLPT) utilize the vetiver plant to purify acid mine drainage.
They create an innovation of constructed floating wetland where the Vetiver can still optimally absorb heavy metals even if it is planted in watery conditions. The constructed floating wetland acts as a planting medium so that the Vetiver can grow in the soil but the roots reach the acid mine drainage. The Vetiver plant absorbs heavy metal through the roots then accumulates it in its body. Periodically, the Vetiver is removed and used as raw material for compost for mine land reclamation. Besides Vetiver, PTBA also plants Water Hyacinth and Kiambang using this method.
Arsal Ismail hopes that PTBA employees will continue to create updates in order to realize PTBA transformation target. "We provide opportunities for every employee to develop themselves and innovate for the common good, the company and the country so that we can continue to carry out mining activities more optimal, efficient, and sustainable," he concluded.
