Clean Water for Flood Victims

PT Bukit Asam Tbk's CSR team looked for flood victims, distributed boxed rice and provided clean water around Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, on December 27, 2021.
Bukit Asam CSR Senior Manager, Hartono, through the Assistant Manager of Community Development, Listati, said that heavy rains accompanied by strong winds around Lawang Kidul District caused a number of villages to be flooded. "Not only flooding, because of heavy rains, landslides also occurred at several points. So we went down directly to check the flood locations and decide what the people in the affected area needed," she said.
Also, as a quick emergency response, Bukit Asam also provided emergency assistance for the people, such as, "distributing boxed rice and clean water to the several points affected by floods and landslides, including in the villages of Tegal Rejo, Lingga, Keban Agung and others," she said.
According to Listati, with the current extreme weather conditions, her work unit is always on standby in case of a disaster. "Wherever and whenever it is, we are ready to go to the field, and we will also provide assistance according to the needs of those affected, but we truly hope that there will be no disaster," she said.
It is hoped that the assistance provided can slightly ease the burden of the affected victims. "This is a form of our concern for the people, hopefully this small aid can comfort and help those who are hit by the flood," she said.
Meanwhile, Rahman (23) one of the flood victims said that the flood occurred because of heavy rains in Lawang Kidul District overnight. "The water depth varies, at some locations are almost adult waist height, some are above the knee. It did rain heavily all night," he said. Due to the incident, his wife and children had to be evacuated to their parents' house because all their belongings were flooded.
