Bukit Asam (PTBA) Assistance Has Increased Farmers' Income in Lampung

Salamun began cultivating rice in the 1990s at Sukoharjo Village, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung. However, because of lack in finance, cultivation results were less than ideal. Salamun only achieved a gross profit of IDR 15 million in three months after investing IDR 8 million in one hectare.
In 2020, Salamun joined PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Foster Partner and received a loan from the Micro and Small Business Funding (PUMK) program. The assistance was mostly used to cover the needs for fertilizers and pesticides in order to maximize rice growth and quality.
His income increased after that and he was able to earn a net profit of IDR 35 million per acre.
"I am very grateful to PTBA for providing business support in order to increase business profitability in the rice farming industry,” Salamun said.
Salamun was subsequently able to expand his business and began cattle farming. Initially, he purchased a pair of Bali cattle, and the cattle ranch had grown over time. Salamun sold calves for Rp 8 million per head last year. He currently has five cows.
According to Director of Human Resources of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Suherman, throughout 2022 the Company had distributed PUMK Program funds to 109 Foster Partners in the industrial, trade, fishery, plantation, agriculture, livestock and service sectors.
"PTBA has also carried out various coaching and training efforts for MSEs, including monitoring and reporting activities, training and coaching, in order to increase the capacity of Fostered MSEs, facilitation in product promotion, as well as comparative studies to successful MSEs," concluded Suherman.
