PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) receives Anugerah CSR 2023 Republika in the Social category. In Bamboo for Life Program, PTBA provides training and assistance in the use of bamboo stems. Currently the program is managed independently by the community through a business institution.

On Thursday, October 26, 2023, the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar presented this award to Hengki Burmana, General Manager of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Tarahan Port Unit.

"This appreciation surely motivates us to make optimal contributions to society," Hengki expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

This CSR program, according to Hengki, has been initiated since 2014. Starting from bamboo conservation at Tarahan Harbor, it progressed to bamboo cultivation in several areas in Lampung.

The production of skewers by senior citizens empowerment began in 2020, with a capacity of 168 tons per year. Bukit Asam then upgraded its foster partner into cooperative institution, while also forming 26 new skewer groups.

"We collaborated with Paguyuban Krajan to empower our fellow seniors to be productive again. We started assisting them from the time they were still in conventional businesses until they established their own production house. PTBA also strengthened the foster partners status into cooperative institution," said Hengki.

In November 2022, PTBA in collaboration with Paguyuban Krajan received an award from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for empowering 1,127 seniors in the skewer production business.

Anugerah CSR 2023 Republika is an event to honor companies that are considered to play an important role in activating corporate social responsibility or CSR programs.

Republika hopes this second awarding event will encourage the awardees to increase their contribution to the local society in the form of CSR programs.
