Bukit Asam Builds Solar Power Plant Irrigation for 150 Hectares of Rice Fields in Lampung Tengah

Lampung Tengah, October 6, 2022 - PT PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) begins the construction of a 42 kilowatt peak (kWp) Solar Power Plant in Rejosari Mataram Village, Seputih Mataram District, Lampung Tengah Regency. This Solar Power Plant will supply electricity for 2 irrigation pumps that irrigate 150 hectares of rice fields.
First stone laying ceremony of the solar power plant construction took place in the rice fields of Rejosari Mataram Village on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. The Regent of Lampung Tengah Musa Ahmad and General Manager of PTBA Tarahan Port Unit Dadar Wismoko attended the event.
"We hope the solar power plant will be useful for farmers in Rejosari Village. Agricultural land in Lampung Tengah in particular is granary for rice, corn, cassava, and others. The solar power plant will solve irrigation problem and make the land more fertile. With smooth irrigation, the harvest will increase. On behalf of PTBA management, I would like to thank the regent and all residents in Lampung Tengah for receiving our contribution. Let's take care of it together," said Dadar Wismoko.
The Regent of Lampung Tengah, Musa Ahmad, revealed that previously Rejosari Mataram Village only harvested once a year due to lack of irrigation. With the solar power plant irrigation from PTBA, he hopes that the harvest can increase to three times a year. " God willing, with this irrigation pump, the farmers will be able to plant three times per year in Rejosari Mataram," he said.
He expects the solar power plant irrigation to be maintained well by the community to continue to support agriculture. "This solar power plant is a very extraordinary investment. We practically don't have to spend more cost in the future. Thus, we must maintain its sustainability to always be effective for the benefit of our society," he said.
Representing the farmers, the Chairperson of P3A Rejosari Mataram, Hajisheri, expressed his gratitude to the Regent of Lampung Tengah and PTBA who have provided assistance to the farmers. "Hopefully this solar power plant can bring prosperity to the people of Rejosari Mataram," he concluded.
The solar mini-grid irrigation is PTBA’s CSR program to encourage the use of renewable energy, to empower the community, while preserving the environment. This program is expected to increase the socio-economic independence of the community and optimize agricultural production. This program is one of PTBA's efforts in the transformation movement for the use of environmentally friendly energy sources.
