Bukit Asam (PTBA) Converts Mine Land into Fruit Orchards

Commemorating World Environment Day 2023, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) held a Green Mining event on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 by planting 1,000 jackfruit trees in a 1.6 hectare ex-mining area.
The aim of the planting was to convert ex-mining land into productive land, such as fruit orchard. Later on, this fruit orchard could be used for tourism education.
"Bukit Asam has a strong environmental commitment, and this activity is a concrete manifestation of that commitment. We fully support the government's program to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060 or earlier," stated Apollonius Andwie, Corporate Secretary of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA).
This event involved the management of PTBA, Muara Enim Environmental Service (DLH), Muara Enim Regency Environmental Ambassador, Bukit Asam Mining Industry Community Academy (AKIPBA), and partners.
There are currently 10 hectares of ex-mining land used for orchards. The orchard also includes durian, mango, longan, matoa, guava, and avocado, in addition to jackfruit.
To support the Government in achieving the Net Zero Emission target in 2060 or earlier, PTBA applies Good Mining Practice with decarbonization programs. As of December 2022, the entire reclamation area of PTBA had reached 2,151.84 hectares (ha) with 2,689,800 trees have been planted on this property.
PTBA's operational management related to the environment is in accordance with international standards, indicated by the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management certification held by the Company.
