The World Safety Organization Indonesia Safety Culture Award (WISCA) is one of the WSO (World Safety Organization) Indonesia programs to support our government in building Indonesia with an OHS culture. The awards are given to companies that have implemented OHS culture program, have measured the level of OHS culture and have implemented OHS Management System. The 3 categories of this award are:

·       Gold - Level 5

·       Silver - Level 4

·       Bronze - Level 3

In the WISCA 2021, Bukit Asam received the Safety Culture Award (WISCA) 2021 category Silver or Level 4. There are 9 (nine) excellent programs delivered by Bukit Asam in the assessment process, including:

1.     Demonstrate Management Commitment to OHS and the Environment by implementing a Top Management Tour conducted by the Board of Directors, General Managers and Senior Managers.

2.     Implement the OHS Management System in which Bukit Asam has proven by obtaining the Gold Predicate SMK3 Certificate.

3.     Hold regular OHS meetings in the form of a safety committee and P2K3.

4.     Establish a joint inspection commitment in the form of Middle Management Inspection consisting of mine area inspection, CHF & BWE System Area Inspection and Workshop Area Inspection conducted by manager-level officials.

5.     Form a SHE Agent, an extension of the HSE from the Work Unit and Work Partners in charge with reporting sources of hazards found in the work area, conducting inspections in the work area, conducting safety talks as a means of coaching other colleagues.

6.     Build reporting by worker culture on unsafe conditions and unsafe actions by providing OHS call center facilities (081266992279).

7.     Increase employee compliance with OHS regulations by committing to implement the Golden Rules based on financial penalties.

8.     Monitor compliance with golden rules through the sweeping golden rules program which is carried out jointly and golden rules inspection which is carried out by the Mining OHS Work Unit.

9.     Build sharing OHS information culture in work units and partners, which is carried out regularly in the OHS Induction program.

In the WISCA award 2021 online ceremony, Bukit Asam Production Operations Director Mr. Hadis Surya Palapa expressed his gratitude to the entire WSO Indonesia committee. Receiving a silver category WISCA Award, Bukit Asam has been recognized to have reached the occupational safety and health culture level 4 or pro-active level. This award was a result of all Bukit Asam employees and partner collaboration in ensuring OHS compliance in every operational activity. Hopefully this award can motivate the continuous improvement of the OHS culture in Bukit Asam to the highest level.
