The Story of Febri Sumantri and PTBA Encouraging Keban Agung Village Transformation

The welfare of the residents of Keban Agung Village in Muara Enim has improved thanks to Febri Sumantri. Collaborating with PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Febri and 44 members under Keban Agung Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) are implementing the Eco Agrotomation Program.
Eco Agrotomation is environmentally friendly, automation-based plant cultivation to support mining companies’ greening and reclamation programs.
The turnover generated from this program reaches hundreds of millions of rupiah every year. The community's economy is growing and the income of Keban Agung Village is also increasing.
Febri also succeeded in encouraging people transformation for those who previously worked in Unlicensed Mining (PETI) to join the Eco Agrotomation Program.
He said that the positive changes and inspiration could happen because of various supports from PTBA.
"We have received a lot of assistance from Bukit Asam, such as Green House facilities and infrastructure for the plant nurseries. Additionally, we also receive regular support and training to increase our empowerment and help us create better programs," said Febri.
The Eco Agrotomation program is expanding and now includes a collective learning center, the Eco Agrotomation Science Center, where Febri shares his knowledge and experience.
Training on Breeding Business Management and Eco Enzyme Production had been scheduled for August 10-11, 2023. The workshop was attended by 20 community representatives from Tanjung Raja Village, Tanjung Karangan Village, Keban Agung Village, and Tanjung Enim Village.
"The Eco Agrotomation Science Center is hoped to be a good way of promoting the mission of environmental care in society, as well as making it easier for the community and related institutions to learn about and contribute to the development of plant cultivation," said Febri.
Meanwhile, according to VP Sustainability of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Hartono, the Eco Agrotomation Program is one of PTBA's exceptional Social and Environmental Responsibility programs.
"This program is implemented in collaboration with local communities to support the achievement of carbon neutral targets (Net Zero Emissions) and climate change mitigation. The Eco Agrotomation program continues to develop with the increase in more vulnerable group of people involved, as well as the development of actors' competence to carry out the program,” he said.
