Coming from a Farmer Family, Sulikin Go to College Through PTBA Scholarship

Sulikin is the son of a farmer in Tanjung Karangan Village who could only dreamt of having higher education due to his family's very limited economic condition. But with PT Bukit Asam Tbk Educational Scholarship for the Surrounding Community Program (Bidiksiba), Sulikin was able to achieve his goals.
Bidiksiba is an educational scholarship program provided by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) to high school or equivalent school graduates from underprivileged families around the Company's operational areas to continue pursuing college degree.
Sulikin who lived in Tanjung Karangan Village, Tanjung Agung District, Muara Enim Regency, applied the scholarship in 2016 after graduating from high school upon receiving information from his friends.
"I didn't think I could continue my education to college because of my family economic condition; my father is a farmer and my mother is a housewife. But then I received information from my friends about Bidiksiba Scholarship from PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and I was so excited to join the program. Thank God I passed the selection process," said Sulikin.
As Bidiksiba Scholarship grantee, Sulikin received various facilities during his studies including tuition fees, laptops, books, etc.
Graduated from the Mechanical Engineering department at the Sriwijaya State Polytechnic, Sulikin applied in PTBA's open recruitment in 2021 and now he works as a mechanic at PTBA.
He hopes that the Bidiksiba Scholarship Program will continue to help realizing the dreams of the children from underprivileged families around PTBA's operational areas. "I am very grateful to PTBA for having this program. Thanks to the Bidiksiba Program I got the opportunity to go to college and get a job at PTBA through open recruitment in 2021. As for the Bidiksiba grantees, please keep you enthusiasm high for achieving your goals. I wish for PTBA to be more successful in the future," said Sulikin.
The Bidiksiba program is PTBA's commitment to break the poverty chain through education. From 2010 to 2022 there were 333 recipients of this scholarship.
