With Bukit Asam (PTBA)’s Support, Sarjianto Turn a Profit from His Scrap Business

Sarjianto is now known as Jani Rongsok due to his involvement in scrap business, or rongsok. With sharp business instincts, he recognizes the profit potential in items often considered as trash.
"Scrap items can be valuable when managed properly. These used goods can be recycled and transformed into useful products," said Jani.
Jani is the owner of one of the Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) supported by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA). He launched his business 15 years ago with an initial capital of IDR 10 million. Despite facing setbacks, including being deceived, Jani refused to give up and managed to rebuild his business.
"I was once cheated and lost hundreds of millions of rupiah. But I didn’t give up. I kept pushing forward. To me, that was an expensive lesson," recalled Jani.
His business grew significantly after receiving a capital loan and mentorship from PTBA. Today, Jani’s business generates a monthly turnover of IDR 100 million to IDR 350 million.
"With the additional capital from PTBA, my business has grown, and here I am today. I am now able to employ 11 people," he said
Jani’s spirit remains unwavering as he aims to expand his network and ensure the continued growth of his scrap business.
"Currently, our network extends to Palembang and Lampung. But I don’t want to stop there – I aim to expand even further," he said.
With sustainable energy, PT Bukit Asam Tbk supports MSME development to enhance the welfare of communities around its operational areas. This aligns with the government's Asta Cita, particularly point 3, which focuses on improving the quality of employment and entrepreneurship.
