Supporting Sustainable Energy, PTBA Offers Funding for Community-Based Social Innovation

Jakarta, August 7, 2025 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk. (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Mining SOE holding, has launched the Bukit Asam Social Impact Competition (BASIC). This program aims to encourage active public participation across Indonesia in creating sustainable local solutions.
BASIC provides a platform for local innovators, academics, and social institutions with creative ideas and cutting-edge technologies to create positive, sustainable, and transformative impacts. Through this program, PTBA reaffirms its commitment to sustainability as a collective movement for a better future–starting from the communities closest to the company.
Focus Areas and Competition Categories
Launched on July 18, 2025, the program focuses on three main pillars:
1. Inclusive education
2. Community Economics Empowerment and Wellbeing
3. Environmental and Nature Conservation
BASIC features two competition categories: Conceptual Idea and Project Implementation.
The Conceptual Ideas category is for participants submitting new or previously unexecuted social project ideas. This concept must be feasible and implementable. Proposed funding in this category ranges from Rp7,500,000 to Rp15,000,000 per proposal and must be allocated strictly to support the proposed program.
The Project Implementation category is designated for proposals that have been running for over one year. This category aims to strengthen or further develop an existing social initiative. Participants can apply for Rp50,000,000 in funding. The grant must be used for new activities that continue or expand the existing project.
Participant and Proposal Requirements
All participants are required to have a mentor or advisor from relevant backgrounds– such as professionals, academics, practitioners, community leaders, social workers. Dedy Saptaria Rosa, Sustainability Division Head at PT Bukit Asam Tbk., explained:
"A mentor in BASIC serves as a compass for participants–guiding them toward the best direction, helping them avoid dead ends, and ensuring their ideas truly bring real impact in the field."
All proposals must be original, must not have previously received funding from other sources, and must be free from political elements, SARA (ethnic, religious, racial, and intergroup issues), copyright violations, human rights violations, or pornographic content. Selected participants' works will be published by PT Bukit Asam.
The list of finalists advancing to the final stage will be announced on August 30, 2025, and they will participate in a proposal refinement workshop and social leadership training in September 2025. The winners and award ceremony will be announced in October 2025. All decisions made by the jury are final and cannot be contested.
