PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) saved cost when relocating the main mining equipment Spreader 702 from Mahayung point in Air Laya Mine (TAL) to east side of Muara Tiga Besar Utara (MTBU). Previously, the relocation was meant to be done by a third-party consulting services with an estimated cost of 2.27 billion rupiah and exclude of insurance cost. By using PTBA team the 700 tons sprader relocation was done with cost of 460 million rupiah. The 87% saved cost was an achievement of the firm in terms of efficiency. In addition, it was also a matter of pride for PTBA employees.

The relocation of the spreader that was located on TAL since 1985 was not an easy matter. Although the relocation distance was only 3.7 kilometers, but in addition to the spreader weight, other dimensions such as its height which reaches 50 meters and its width of 20 meters required a large space in the relocation process. To pass Lawai Bridge was a critical point and a 25 meters width dike which have the second highest risk after the bridge.

In addition, the spreader velocity is only 6 meters per minute or 360 meters per hour. If we put in number, the spreader relocation shall take only about 10 hours. But this giant spreader relocation took about 1 month, which began to move from TAL since 2014, October 15^th and arrived in MTBU east side on 2014, November 17^th. This spreader that used to pile the soil material to the landfill can be transferred without missing any part.
