Muara Enim, November 14, 2024 - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has provided glasses to 25 elementary school students in Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim, who were experiencing vision problems. The assistance was given following a series of eye examinations as part of the Eyes Clinic Goes to School program, which offers free eye checks for students.
This program aims to improve the quality of life and support the learning process of students by providing adequate eye health access.
The assistance was symbolically handed over by Dedy Saptria Rosa, VP of Sustainability at PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), along with Dr. Bandriyo Sudarsono, Head of Bukit Asam Medika Hospital, at Bukit Asam Medika Hospital, Muara Enim, on Wednesday (November 13, 2024).
Dedy emphasized that eye health is crucial in supporting education, especially since the eyes are the primary sense used in learning and interacting.
"This program is a tangible manifestation of PTBA's commitment to supporting the younger generation in learning effectively and achieving better academic performance. We also recognize the significant impact of technology, such as intensive gadget use, on children’s eye health. Through this program, we hope that children will grow up healthy and intelligent, for a better future," he said.
On the same occasion, Dr. Bandriyo Sudarsono added that the collaboration between PTBA and Bukit Asam Medika Hospital reflects their concern for public health.
"As part of Bukit Asam, we are honored to be involved in this program, which aims to improve the quality of life for children in the areas around our operational sites. We hope that with better vision, students will be able to focus more on their studies and achieve higher academic performance," said Dr. Bandriyo.
The Eyes Clinic Goes to School program is expected to be sustainable and bring significant benefits to elementary school students in other areas. PTBA also hopes that more parties will support similar programs to ensure the health of children and contribute to creating a healthy and intelligent future generation.
In addition to the Eyes Clinic, PTBA has implemented various programs to improve public health. Among them is the Supplementary Feeding Program, which provides additional nutrition, in the form of milk, every month for mothers and children from underprivileged families in the company’s Ring 1 area.
PTBA also collaborates with Bukit Asam Medika Hospital to run the Mobile Health Service, which provides free healthcare services to communities around the Ring 1 area. This service includes medical examinations by doctors and the provision of medicines. Both programs aim to provide healthcare services that reach more people in need.
