On Environment Day, Bukit Asam (PTBA) Educates Elementary School Students
PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) organized a Green School event for 10 elementary schools in the company's operational areas on June 12-13, 2024.
As one of the activities organized by PTBA to commemorate World Environment Day, the Green School event consisted of an Inspiration Class that encouraged students to love the environment, and a Greening Class that invited students to plant trees together. The Green School event involved 108 volunteers from PTBA and its business partners.
VP Environmental Management & Mining Support PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Amarudin, said that with vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, the company also supports the achievement of the Net Zero Emission target (carbon neutral emissions) set by the Government in 2060 or earlier.
It is hoped that Green School's education will increase elementary school students’ environmental awareness. “PTBA wants to provide positive benefits for the environment. We have started to enter the Net Zero Emission era. So we begin with simple steps, such as planting trees that can absorb emissions," said Amarudin.
Dody Sukoco, one of the volunteers who participated in the Green School event, hoped that this education would inspire elementary school students to help protect and preserve the environment.
"Praise to Allah, I'm pleased that the activity went smoothly. Hopefully, it might provide positive inspiration to the young students, making them care more about the environment around them," he said.
Not only Green School, PTBA holds a number of activities in commemoration of World Environment Day 2024, among which are river clean-up actions, tree planting, cross-country running, and the election of Environmental Ambassadors.
