Bukit Asam Wins Several Trophies as Host of Sumatra Fire & Rescue Challenge

As part of the commemoration of Occupational Safety & Health (OHS) month, the inaugural Sumatra Fire & Rescue Challenge (SFRC) competition was held successfully in Tanjung Enim on February 19–22, 2024.
PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), the host event, was successful in taking home a number of the competition's trophies. PT Bukit Asam Tbk sent two representative teams and Team A became the overall winner. PT Mifa Bersaudara came in second, with PT Putra Perkasa Abadi Site PTBA in third.
PTBA Operations & Production Director Suhedi congratulated all participants for their excellent performance throughout the series of activities. He hoped that SFRC would benefit all participated companies.
"Hopefully all the knowledge and experience gained will be able to improve the rescue teams’ capabilities for their own companies," said Suhedi.
By organizing SFRC at the regional level, Muhammad Hendrasto, Chairman of the Pertapindo Supervisory Board, noted that this competition challenged all participants' abilities.
"A capacity building program will be held for individuals who have not yet become the winner to ensure that there is no gap in their skills and abilities," he said.
This is one of Pertapindo's objectives to manage the Emergency Response Team (ERT), so that the quality of OHS in Indonesia will continue to improve.
This competition had 15 teams with 146 Emergency Response Team (ERT) personnel and 49 Observers from 24 different companies to evaluate the competence of the ERT professionals competing in this event.
The competition included five activities: Firefighter Competency Test, Structural Fire Fighting, Road Accident Rescue, Water Rescue, and Firefighter Combat Challenge.
SFRC received an enthusiastic welcome from the local community in Tanjung Enim. This would certainly encourage the companies and local governments to make efforts in creating Tanjung Enim a tourist city.
PTBA's OHS Month commemorative events came to an end with the SFRC Closing Ceremony. All Bukit Asam personnel have taken part in 11 OHS Month activities since the event launched on February 12, 2024.
