Semende Coffee, Bukit Asam (PTBA)'s Fostered Micro and Small Business, is Recognized Nationwide

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Group, fosters Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) throughout its operations areas. Many of them have advanced to the next level and manage successful businesses, including Semende coffee under Bukit Asam brand which has been produced at the Bukit Asam Coffee Industrial Center (SIBA) since 2020.
Three years ago, SIBA Coffee sold only 10 kilograms (kg) of coffee per month. Now sales reach 200 kg per month.
“Our initial capital when first founded was just 10 kg of coffee. We currently have 150–200 kilos every month and monthly sales total 200 kilogram," said Chairman of SIBA Coffee, Zona.
Initially, Zona and friends just offered ground coffee in simple packaging. SIBA Coffee was developed after PTBA provided support with various production equipment and training.
This equipment consists of a roasting machine for roasting coffee beans, a sealer machine for packaging, a handpresso for making espresso coffee, etc. The products are now available in various variants and sizes.
“Bukit Asam coffee has been effectively introduced into Muara Enim minimarkets. Aside from that, it's available on the Indonesian MSME Digital Market (PaDi UMK) marketplace platform and social media. Bukit Asam coffee was able to break into the national market because of PTBA’s support," said Zona.
According to VP Sustainability of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Hartono, the company is committed to improving the welfare of the community around its operational areas, in line with PTBA's Noble Purpose as a member of the MIND ID Group: We explore natural resources for civilization, prosperity and a brighter future.
"PTBA strives to improve the welfare of the community around the operational area, including providing guidance to MSEs. Training, mentoring and assistance are provided to help the fostered partners improve their business. It is hoped that our fostered partners would be able to grow and advance to the next level,” said Hartono.
PTBA established the Bukit Asam Industrial Center (SIBA Center) in Tanjung Enim, Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency as a promotion center for the development of foster MSEs. SIBA Center has created several of its own trademarks, including SIBA Coffee, SIBA Songket, SIBA Batik, SIBA Mushroom, SIBA Knitting, SIBA Fertilizer, and SIBA Rosella.
