Steps Taken by Bukit Asam (PTBA) to Strengthen Anti-Corruption
PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) as a member of the MIND ID Group is fully committed to implementing the principles of good corporate governance (GCG) as the foundation for managing an accountable business entity.
PTBA has established a Whistleblowing System (WBS) or a submission mechanism for dealing with reports of alleged corruption through various media.
Since 2020, PTBA has also officially become the first state-owned mining company to receive ISO 370001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System, certified by PT British Standards Institution Group Indonesia (BSI Group Indonesia).
Several positive observations during the certification audit process stated that PTBA had consistently implemented Good Corporate Governance (GCG) for more than 10 years, had an Enterprise Risk Management System, and had all Business Units mitigating Bribery or Gratification opportunities.
On October 6, 2021, PTBA agreed to cooperate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to strengthen corruption prevention and established a clean enterprise.
To ensure the effectiveness of GCG implementation within the Company, PTBA assesses GCG implementation on a regular basis as a type of check and balance mechanism to establish the adequacy of GCG implementation within the Company. The implementation of this assessment provides the Company with a more comprehensive image of the areas or focus for the development of GCG aspects that require attention each year.
The assessment carried out by the Company refers to the Decree of the Secretary to the Minister of BUMN No. 16/S. MBU/2012 concerning Indicators/Parameters for Assessment and Evaluation of the Implementation of Good Corporate Governance in State-Owned Enterprises.
Furthermore, the Company participates in an independent GCG implementation assessment each year, namely the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) conducted by The Indonesian Institute for Corporate Governance (IICG) and SWA Magazine.
Through the consistent and thorough implementation of GCG principles, PTBA believes that it can achieve both short and long term goals, achieve maximum growth and returns, thus creating a growing and developing business, and ultimately convincing Shareholders and Stakeholders that PTBA has been managed well and properly, able to protect the interests of Shareholders and all Stakeholders.
PTBA received numerous awards as a result of consistent implementation of GCG. Among these are the title of Indonesia's Most Trusted Company at the 2022 Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) Award, the 2021 Global Good Governance (3G) Award from Cambridge IFA, and the 2022 TOP GRC Awards # 5 Stars.
