Achieving Her Dreams Through Bukit Asam (PTBA) Bidiksiba Scholarship

Meilani, a graduate from SMA Negeri 1 Lawang Kidul, recognizes the benefit of the Education Scholarship Around Bukit Asam (Bidiksiba) program from PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA).
After graduating from high school in 2015, Meilani, an orphan from underprivileged family, was able to continue her study to higher education through the Bidiksiba scholarship.
"When I graduated from high school in 2015, I learned about the Bidiksiba Program through my school and applied to English major at Sriwijaya State Polytechnic. Bidiksiba program helped a lot because I came from economically disadvantaged families. I was able to concentrate on my studies because the scholarship covered all expenses, including accommodation, living expenses, and tuition fees," said Meilani.
Meilani completed her studies at the Sriwijaya State Polytechnic in 2018. Following that, she was hired by one of PTBA's subsidiaries.
She hopes that Bidiksiba Program will continue to help children from underprivileged families to get higher education.
"For Bidiksiba Program participants, maintain your excitement for learning and don't forget to pray. I wish you the best of luck," she said.
PTBA's VP of Sustainability, Hartono believes that education is the basic asset for making life better. This scholarship has been awarded to 328 people between 2010 and 2022.
"The Bidiksiba program is in line with PTBA's Noble Purpose as a member of the MIND ID Group: we explore for civilization, prosperity, and a brighter future. This program is our commitment to participate in breaking the chain of poverty through education," he explained.
Not only Bidiksiba, PTBA also runs a number of programs to help the community in the field of education, such as the Ayo Sekolah Program, which provides scholarships for underprivileged students, the National Movement for the Elimination of Illiteracy in Mathematics (Gernas Tastaka) and the National Movement for the Eradication of Illiteracy in Reading (Gernas Tastaba) to improve the mathematics and literacy competence of elementary school teachers in the Muara Enim Regency area.
