Making Appropriate Coal Size

Coal extracted from the mine comes with different sizes and contains pack rock elements, the waste material of the coal. Crushing process, a process to crush large coal to make consistent size and in accordance with the standard consumer needs, is necessary before coal distribution.
First, the coal must first be separated and filtered based on the size on the vibrating screen before being sent to the crusher. This process will reduce the crusher workload. If the vibrating screen does not work, coal with different sizes will enter the crusher and cause the crusher machine to wear out and clogged up. Especially, during the rainy season, the coal is sticky to each other and can cause clogging. If this happens, the crusher machine must be turned off for the cleaning process. When the crusher machine is being cleaned from the adhering coal, the coal distribution process is hindered.
The Kertapati Pier currently
has only one vibrating screen at the CHF-01 sizing plant, which was inoperable
due to a cracked wall condition that caused the coal material to spill over to
the side. As the Kertapati Pier conveyor line is relatively linear, any damage
in one of the machine components causes the entire conveyor line to stop
operating. Unfortunately, it was quite difficult to procure the damaged
vibrating screen because the procurement process would take a long time and it
would be difficult to mobilize equipment to the site due to the lockdown
condition during this pandemic.
The Bukit Asam Maintenance Working Unit continues to seek innovations to support the operational achievements of the Kertapati Pier by creating a temporary grizzly screen that can be installed in a short time to replace the vibrating screen position on the CHF 01 sizing plant to make loading and unloading operations at the Kertapati Pier back to normal. After 10 days of the fabrication and installation process, this temporary grizzly screen had a huge impact on the operational activities of the Kertapati Pier; the maintenance time for the CHF-01 sizing plant is significantly reduced to 58%.
