Bukit Asam Millennials Participate in BUMN Environmental Movement

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir invited the Palembang City BUMN community and millennials to take an active role in environmental preservation by participating in a series of BUMN Environmental Movement events on July 14-15, 2023 in Palembang City.
On the first day, 20 millennials from PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) participated in the effort to clean up the Musi River as a form of environmental responsibility.
There were more than 100 millennials from 11 SOEs in Palembang working with the Plustik startup to clean the Musi River, removing 1.6 tons of rubbish.
On the second day, the BUMN Environmental Movement continued with workshop activity by Pegadaian talking about the Gold Savings program, and partnering with the Plustik startup discussing about waste recycling from low value to high value.
"When we throw away the trash, we throw away gold. Through Pegadaian's Gold Savings, high-value waste collected can be exchanged for gold. While low-value waste can be turned into decorations, bags and other things," explained Special Staff III to the Minister of BUMN Arya Sinulingga during a speech at the workshop.
The workshop was divided into 2 sessions with 150 participants from Palembang city. The first session discussed the processing of low-value waste delivered by the Plustik startup. The second session discussed the processing of high-value waste delivered by Pegadaian through the Garbage Bank program.
The BUMN Environmental Movement Workshop was supported by Pegadaian and Bukit Asam. Similar activities were previously carried out in Labuan Bajo and Solo. It is hoped that this course would be held on a regular basis throughout Indonesia in the future.
