With Zero Work Accidents, Bukit Asam (PTBA) Receives Provincial OHS Award

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Group, received three Zero Accident Awards at the South Sumatra Province Level in 2024. The three awards were presented to the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit, the Kertapati Pier Unit, and PT Satria Bahana Sarana (SBS), a PTBA subsidiary.
The award was given directly by the Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor at the South Sumatra Province Occupational Safety and Health Month Ceremony at the Griya Agung Palembang Courtyard on Friday, March 8, 2024.
This award was granted in recognition of PTBA's success in sustaining an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) culture, which resulted in zero work accidents in 2023.
"The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower supports various government efforts in achieving OHS professionalism to improve the quality of life, support Indonesia's development and increase competitiveness in the era of globalization," said Afriansyah Noor.
At the event, Acting Governor of South Sumatra Agus Fatoni congratulated the award winners. He encouraged companies to consistently implement the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3).
"We invite and continuously encourage corporate management to implement SMK3 consistently in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions, which eventually implies
that the OHS culture is attached to every individual who participates in the company, resulting in an increase in work productivity," he said.
Regarding this award, the Director of Operations and Production of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Suhedi expressed his gratitude for the appreciation given. This award is a motivation for PTBA to continue to strengthen its OHS culture.
PTBA has taken various efforts to improve its OHS culture, including implementation of OHS Management System (SMK3), Mining Safety Management System (SMKP), ISO 45001 - 2018 as standards and guidelines for the Company in managing mining safety.
The Golden Rules principles are upheld to ensure health and safety in the operational environment. The Golden Rules are basic guidelines that all employees must follow to ensure work safety and health. A number of SHE (Safety Health & Environment) agents supervise OHS at their respective work locations.
In addition, PTBA examines the suitability of production facilities and infrastructure on a regular basis, and improves them through standardization or certification. This policy is implemented to ensure employee safety and security while at work.
"By implementing a strong OHS culture, mining activities can be carried out more effectively and safely. OHS culture is part of the principles of best mining practice (Good Mining Practice) that we always implement. Therefore, we are committed to continuing to strengthen our OHS culture to support PTBA's vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment," said Suhedi.
