Application of IoT in Coal Handling Facility

One of innovations from Bukit Asam Electrical Maintenance Unit includes optimization using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The application of industrial technology 4.0 to the operational system of the Coal Handling Facility (CHF) at UPTE with the theme #Welcome to CHF 4.0 resulted in the entire coal operational process from stockpile to TLS is controlled and monitored easily and in real time.
The application consists of:
· Control and monitoring of CHF operational lines
· Monitoring of power distribution
· Monitoring the coal filling process at the Train Loading Station
· Monitoring of work activity reports (obstacle reports)
· Real-time recording of obstacle data information and operational unit status
· Integration of Communication Networks and Operational System Data contained in fiber optic network media, VPN and the Internet.
Using the technology 4.0 development, this innovation also aims to help increase coal production, minimize obstacles, reduce the use of fuel for operational vehicles and reduce carbon gas emissions, which have a negative impact on the environment. This MCC Innovation Team’s joint idea turns out to be successful. The application is accessible by all maintenance and operational employees for CHF and ATU control and monitoring purposes.
