PTBA Grants IDR6.5 Billion Scholarships to Students Around the Mining Areas

PT Bukit Asam Tbk grants IDR6.5 billion scholarships to students living around the mining areas.
Provided through the Bidiksiba program (originally known as BUD), which was first initiated in 2010, these scholarship funds are given to underprivileged students to pursue their higher education at the appointed polytechnics – Sriwijaya Polytechnic and Malang State Polytechnic.
This year’s BIDIKSIBA program sends 24 students to Sriwijaya Polytechnic and 25 to Malang State Polytechnic. The 49 students who receive these scholarships are from the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit, Kertapati Pier Unit (South Sumatra), Tarahan Port Unit (Lampung), Ombilin Mining Unit (West Sumatra), and Pranap (Riau) areas.
Prior to scholarship grants, these students underwent competitive selection process that run from April to September 2020 in each unit, starting from administrative selection, psychological tests, academic tests, and interviews, all of which were conducted online; followed by medical check-ups, signing of cooperation agreements, and delivery of BIDIKSIBA uniforms and laptops as learning support tools.
In addition to cost of education, PTBA also provides living costs, rent, and monthly operational fees.
All BIDIKSIBA scholarship recipients have made proud achievements. Instilled in ethical values, they are able to endorse and maintain the good image of their hometown and those who support their education progress.
