Jakarta, November 28, 2022 - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) received the Gold trophy at the 2022 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) event held by the National Center for Sustainability Report (NCSR) at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
The assessment is based on compliance level of sustainability reporting with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The assessors are independent scholars from 15 universities in Indonesia and 1 assessor from the University of Essex UK.
NCSR Board Director Ali Darwin, ICSP Board Director & Chairman of ASRRAT Eko Ganis Sukoharsono, NCCR Board of Trustee Chairman Bambang Brodjonegoro attended the award ceremony. PTBA's management was represented by VP Sustainability Hartono, VP Corporate Finance Eko Prayitno and VP Corporate & GCG Management Systems Tri Ubaya Sakti.
NCSR Board Director Ali Darwin said that "Pathway To Circular Economy" theme, which is a series of the 7th Sustainability Practitioners Conference (SPC), is very relevant to the efforts in to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
"The implementation of sustainable development must be communicated to the public through a Sustainability Report. The extent to which an entity contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the achievement of its ESG performance must be accounted for in the Sustainability Report," said Ali.
According to NCCR Board of Trustee Chairman Bambang Brodjonegoro, the circular economy will drive 4.4 million net job creations by 2030, of which 75 percent of these jobs are for women. Transitioning to circular economy practices will increase Indonesia's GDP by Rp593–638 trillion or equivalent to 2.3–2.5 percent of GDP in 2030.
"But to make this happen, ambitious cooperation involving the government, companies, civil society, financial institutions and research organizations is required," he said.
PTBA VP Sustainability Hartono believed that this award was a reflection of PTBA's success in implementing the sustainability principles. The company would continue to strengthen the implementation of the environmental, social, and governance (Environment, Social, and Governance/ESG) investment concept to achieve even more positive performance.
"In its operational activities, PTBA always refers to Good Mining Practice and is committed to always contributing to society. We would continue to improve our achievement to realize PTBA's vision of becoming a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment," he said.
First held 18 years ago, this year’s ASRRAT award was attended by 50 companies and organizations, including from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Australia and Russia.
