The selection of participants for the 2024 Education Scholarship Program for Students around Bukit Asam (Bidiksiba) is ongoing. 240 participants who passed the administrative selection proceeded to the psychological and English test.
Participants came from the following areas: 175 from the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit, 8 from the Kertapati Pier Unit, 25 from the Tarahan Port Unit, and 32 from the Ombilin Mining Unit.
The 183 participants from the Tanjung Enim Mining Unit and the Kertapati Pier Unit took the psychological and English test on 20-21 February 2024, while the 32 participants from the Ombilin Mining Unit on February 24, 2024, and 25 participants from the Tarahan Port Unit on February 26, 2024.
Chair of the 2024 Bidiksiba Program, Laurentius Agus Haryadi, believes that the selection process is an essential first step in supporting the improvement of communities around the PTBA operational area through the education sector.
"Providing opportunities for students from underprivileged families to obtain education can stop the poverty cycle. We hope that this scholarship program will have a positive impact on the future of the participants and society in general," said Agus.
The Bidiksiba program aims to give opportunities for high school or equivalent graduates from underprivileged families living around the company to pursue further education (Diploma Three or D-III). This scholarship has been awarded to 345 students between 2013 and 2023.
