As BUMN Synergy, Bukit Asam and Jasa Marga Explores Potential for PLTS Development Cooperation

As the commitment to support the reduction of global carbon emissions, PT Bukit Asam Tbk and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk are exploring the potential for cooperation in the development of solar power plant (PLTS) on Jasa Marga Group toll road, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between President Director of Bukit Asam, Arsal Ismail, and the President Director of Jasa Marga, Subakti Syukur, in Merusaka Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday (February 2, 2022). The solar power plant development will support business and operational activities on the Jasa Marga Group toll road.
This MoU is also a form of collaboration and synergy between State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in supporting Indonesia's G20 Presidency 2022, one of which focuses on the issue of reducing global carbon emissions. This is also in line with the commitment to the Paris Agreement implementation, which was ratified by the Indonesian Government on April 22, 2016.
President Director of Bukit Asam, Arsal Ismail, welcomed the potential for this cooperation as this would bring positive contributions to each party. According to Arsal, this collaboration reflects the strategy implementation to achieve Bukit Asam's business transformation by 2026.
"To achieve the first step of Bukit Asam transformation to become energy company in 2026, one of the business strategies is to increase the portfolio of new and renewable energy-based power plants," said Arsal.
On the same occasion, the President Director of Jasa Marga, Subakti Syukur, said that the signing of this MoU is an excellent collaboration partnership initiation between Bukit Asam and Jasa Marga, and is in line with Jasa Marga's commitment to realizing a sustainable toll road.
"This collaboration also represents Jasa Marga as the holder of the largest market share and leader in the Indonesian toll road industry, has the potential for prospective business development along the Jasa Marga Group toll road corridor as well as opportunities for productive partnerships and cooperation for mutual progress," said Subakti.
In addition to the signing of the MoU, on this occasion a Solar Power Plant Facility Cooperation Agreement was signed on the Bali Mandara Toll Road between PT Bukit Energi Investama (PT BEI) and PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (PT JBT). Through this collaboration, PT BEI will install 1 set of solar power plant with a maximum total capacity of 400 kilowatt peak (kWp) to support PT JBT's business activities and operations.
The installation of this solar power plant makes Bali Mandara Toll Road set as one of the infrastructures in Bali, the host province of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022. So, it is vital that the power plant implementation is well realized according to the target.
