MIND ID Group Synergy! PT Timah and Bukit Asam Exploring Solar Power Plant Development
Two members of the MIND ID Group, PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Timah Tbk, are exploring the potential for cooperation in developing a Solar Power Plant at PT Timah's operational location. This synergy is a manifestation of the commitment of the two companies to contribute to energy conservation, emission reduction and sustainable development.
This collaboration is marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Synergy of Renewable Energy Development by PT Timah Tbk Business Development Director, Alwin Albar and PTBA Business Development Director Rafli Yandra on January 26, 2023. MIND ID Business Development Director Dilo Seno Widagdo also attended the signing.
PTBA through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (BEI) will build a Solar Power Plant to support PT Timah's operational activities. Electricity from the Solar Power Plant will be used for production, lighting and office operational activities which are expected to contribute to reduced emissions and more efficient energy costs.
Director of Business Development of PT Timah Tbk Alwin Albar states that PT Timah together with the MIND ID Group continues to support the Government's efforts towards Net Zero Emissions, one of which is by using renewable energy to minimize the environmental impact of the company's business activities.
"In line with the vision of PT Timah Tbk To be the world's leading environmentally-friendly mining company, PT Timah must grow with innovation, including the use of renewable energy that is efficient and environmentally friendly,” he said.
Previously, PT Timah Tbk had also developed a floating solar power plant pilot project in Kampong Reklamasi Selinsing to support the electricity supply in the area.
According to PTBA Business Development Director Rafli Yandra, Bukit Asam is increasingly expanding into the new and renewable energy sector as part of its transformation towards an integrated and sustainable world-class energy and chemical company.
"Collaboration with PT Timah is in line with PTBA's vision. We believe that sustainable business practices not only have a positive impact on preserving nature, but can also provide economic benefits and build PTBA's competitive advantage. With a sustainable company business, PTBA will continue to support national energy security," said Rafli.
