In his speech, Ma'ruf Amin urged companies to improve their environmental management performance. He also underlined the importance of community empowerment in order to achieve effective environmental management.
"PROPER should serve as a compass that guides sustainable business practices by implementing green economy principles. It should even encourage achievements that exceed industry compliance with environmental regulations," said Ma'ruf Amin.
At the same event, Alue Dohong, the deputy minister of environment and forestry, released information about the assessment of 3,694 participating companies’ environmental management performance rankings, with details as follows: 79 companies with a Gold rating, 196 companies with a Green rating, 2,131 companies with a Blue rating, 1,077 companies with a Red rating, no companies with a Black rating, and 211 companies have a postponed rating.
In the meantime, Arsal Ismail, President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), conveyed his gratitude for the government's acknowledgement. These two Gold PROPERs demonstrate that the company has environmental management practices higher than required and has engaged in sustainable community development.
The company's ability to consistently incorporate sustainability principals into our business operations has allowed us to achieve two Gold PROPER awards. We are proud of this honor, which motivates us even more to continue contributing to environmental management and community empowerment," said Arsal.
In line with its vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, PTBA carries out various efforts to support the achievement of the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 set by the Government.
