PTBA Subsidiary PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) Wins 3rd Place in the 2026 EBTKE Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

Jakarta, September 5, 2026 — PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk, or PTBA, extends its highest appreciation for the achievement of PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP), which won 3rd Place in the 2026 New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Awards in the Off- -Grid Category (Power Subcategory) from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia.
This prestigious award was accepted in person by Mr. Zheng GuoXiong, Operation & Technical Director, who represented HBAP management at the award ceremony. This achievement was made possible by HBAP’s innovation in operating a 44.88 kWp landfill solar power plant (PLTS) that functions as a hybrid off-grid system in the Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA) Ash Yard waste management area at the Sumsel 8 Coal-Fired Power Plant.
This innovative approach to clean energy supports self-sufficient, efficient, and environmentally friendly operations in remote areas.
Eko Prayitno, Head of the Corporate Secretary Division at PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), stated that this award strengthens the PTBA Group’s position in promoting sustainable mining and power generation practices.
"This award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is a recognition of the PTBA Group’s commitment to integrating clean energy into our operational chain. The innovative use of a hybrid off-grid solar power plant at HBAP demonstrates how our subsidiaries are able to transform and provide tangible added value in terms of reducing carbon emissions and improving operational efficiency," said Eko Prayitno.
Since beginning hybrid off-grid operations, the HBAP Landfill Solar Power Plant, together with the 162.25 kWp HBAP #1 Solar Power Plant, has had a measurable positive impact on the environment and operations, including a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 82.86 metric tons—equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of more than 3,300 trees. In terms of environmental sustainability, this program helps prevent air pollution and supports energy cost savings amounting to tens of millions of rupiah annually.
Meanwhile, the CEO of PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) emphasized that this achievement serves as motivation for the company to continue expanding its green energy portfolio.
"We are very proud and grateful for the recognition given by the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The operation of this hybrid off-grid landfill solar power plant is just the beginning of HBAP’s major steps toward supporting energy sustainability. Going forward, we are committed to expanding our solar energy capacity to 2–3 MWp across our operational areas, while also expanding our circular FABA utilization program to create a sustainable positive impact on the community and the surrounding environment," said Chen Xingyu, CEO of HBAP.
PTBA’s management views this award as tangible proof of the corporate group’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition in Indonesia. The use of renewable energy within HBAP’s operations not only improves the efficiency and reliability of its independent power supply but also aligns with PTBA’s roadmap toward sustainability and the achievement of its net-zero emissions target.
