Building a Sustainable Local Economy, PTBA Enhances the Capacity of Egg-Laying Duck Farmers Group
Muara Enim, June 8, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of MIND ID, Indonesia’s State-Owned Mining Industry Holding, continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting community economic independence through various sustainable empowerment programs. One of these initiatives is reflected in the capacity-building program for the Rimba Farm Egg-Laying Duck Farmers Group in Tegal Rejo Village, Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.
PTBA Corporate Secretary Eko Prayitno stated that the activity is part of the Illegal Mining Transformation Program (PETI Transformation Program), which is implemented by the Company in collaboration with Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) South Sumatra.
The program aims to improve the productivity and quality of egg-laying duck farming businesses so that they can serve as a successful model of community empowerment while supporting the development of a more independent and sustainable local economy.
As part of the program, PTBA has provided assistance in the form of ducklings and poultry housing infrastructure. In line with the Company's commitment to sustainable community development, PTBA has also delivered comprehensive mentoring, particularly in livestock farming practices, including feed management. Through coaching and assistance provided by IZI, PTBA further introduced an innovation in self-produced feed, enabling farmers to reduce production costs and improve operational sustainability.
"PTBA is committed to delivering empowerment programs that create long-term impacts for communities. Through the development of this egg-laying duck farming initiative, we aim to encourage the growth of productive community enterprises, increase household income, and support the economic transformation of communities toward more sustainable livelihoods. This program also forms part of the Company's efforts to create shared value for communities and the environment surrounding our operational areas," said Eko.
Currently, the Rimba Farm group manages 500 laying ducks capable of producing approximately 200 omega duck eggs per day. To maintain productivity and improve business management practices, group members receive technical training from experts with extensive experience in egg-laying duck farming.
Muhammad Zainuri, Head of the IZI South Sumatra Representative Office, expressed his appreciation for the synergy established among PTBA, IZI, and the community in supporting the success of the empowerment program.
"Strong collaboration among companies, facilitating institutions, and communities is a key factor in creating sustainable social and economic impacts. We appreciate PTBA's commitment to implementing programs that not only provide assistance but also strengthen community capacity and self-reliance," he said.
Appreciation was also expressed by Teguh Priono, Head of Tegal Rejo Village. According to him, the egg-laying duck farming program has delivered tangible benefits to the community by creating productive business opportunities that contribute to improving local economic conditions.
Meanwhile, PTBA Sustainable Community Development Section Head Ajis Purnomo emphasized that the program reflects the Company's commitment to fostering community economic independence through the development of the livestock sector, which offers promising long-term prospects.
"Through this training, we hope to further enhance the capacity of group members, both in technical farming practices and business management. In this way, the program can continue to grow and provide sustainable economic benefits for the community," said Ajis.
The activity began with a presentation on the program's progress by Rimba Farm Group Chairman Hendri Susilo. In his report, Hendri highlighted various achievements since the program was launched, ranging from increased member capacity to the continued growth of omega duck egg production.
The main training session featured Farizal Syarif, a practitioner and expert in egg-laying duck farming. During the session, Farizal shared his knowledge and experience on farm management, livestock productivity improvement, disease control, and strategies for developing sustainable egg-laying duck farming businesses.
Through initiatives such as this, PTBA hopes that the Rimba Farm Group will continue to grow into a leading center for egg-laying duck farming, improve community welfare, and serve as a successful example of community-based economic transformation in Muara Enim Regency.
