Supporting Inclusive and Sustainable Education, PTBA Distributes in Ayo Sekolah Scholarships

Jakarta, 13 January 2025 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk continues to reaffirm its commitment to improving the quality of human resources through the sustainable AYO SEKOLAH Scholarship Program.
The program is intended for students at the Elementary School (SD), Junior High School (SMP), and Senior High School/Vocational High School (SMA/SMK or equivalent) levels from underprivileged families living in areas surrounding the Company’s operational sites. It is implemented in stages to support the achievement of Indonesia’s 12-year compulsory education program.
President Director of PTBA, Arsal Ismail, stated that the Ayo Sekolah Scholarship reflects the Company’s commitment to continuously share and create positive value for society.
“For us, a company’s success is not only measured by business performance, but also by the sustainable positive impact we can deliver,” he explained.
Throughout 2025, the AYO SEKOLAH Program has benefited 2,659 students across Bukit Asam’s operational areas, including Tanjung Enim, Palembang, Bandar Lampung, Ombilin, and Jakarta. The beneficiaries consist of 896 elementary school students, 1,200 junior high school students, and 563 senior high/vocational school students.
The total education assistance distributed through the AYO SEKOLAH Program in 2025 reached Rp3.9 billion. The assistance is disbursed periodically, with the amount adjusted according to the level of education. This distribution scheme ensures that the support is well-targeted and sustainable.
“The AYO SEKOLAH Program is expected to ensure access to basic and secondary education for children from underprivileged families in the Company’s operational areas, while also improving the quality of education and future opportunities for the younger generation to pursue higher levels of education,” he added.
The implementation of the AYO SEKOLAH Program is also aligned with Bukit Asam’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal No. 4, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
