Through Top Talk Safety, PTBA Highlights the Crucial Role of Families in Preventing Workplace Accidents

Tanjung Enim, December 19, 2025 — The Corporate SHE Division of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, in collaboration with PT Bukit Asam Kreatif (BAK), held a safety discussion forum, Top Talk Safety (TTS) Volume 2, themed “Harmony at Home, Safety at Work: The Role of Families in Fatigue Management,” at the Tanah Putih Multipurpose Hall (GSG), Tanjung Enim, on Wednesday (December 17, 2025).
A total of 210 participants attended the event in person, with most employees accompanied by their spouses (wives). In addition, approximately 120 other participants joined the session online via Zoom Meeting.
The presence of the wives at this forum symbolized the important message that occupational safety in the mining sector is not solely the responsibility of the company, but also of families at home.
The General Manager of the Tanjung Enim Site, Satria Wirawan, expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the Corporate SHE Division and PT BAK. According to him, PT Bukit Asam’s occupational safety programs have now become a benchmark for other mining sub-holdings within the MIND ID Group.
“Programs such as TTS do not only target internal stakeholders, but also the surrounding environment and families. This is a concrete step in strengthening awareness of occupational health and safety (OHS),” said Satria.
However, Satria also reiterated the importance of vital regulations in mining areas, which were established based on evaluations of previous incidents. He emphasized the prohibition of using mobile phones while working for operators to prevent loss of focus, the obligation for shift workers to get adequate rest, and the strict ban on online gambling.
“Regulations are not designed to burden employees, but to save lives. We ask the wives, if their husbands forget to wear their helmets, please remind them. Do not let them engage in online gambling, as it damages focus and the family’s financial well-being. Do not bring household problems to the workplace, because in mining, even a momentary loss of focus can be fatal,” Satria stressed.
In the same vein, the Person in Charge of Operations (PJO) of PT Bukit Asam Kreatif, Purnomo, emphasized that workplace safety does not solely stem from strict corporate systems, but also begins with peace of mind cultivated at home.
“Every step we take today is not merely a routine, but a responsibility that we will be held accountable for. A harmonious family creates a calm mind, and that calmness is the key to working safely,” said Purnomo.
Therefore, he encouraged wives to become safety partners for their husbands by creating a home environment conducive to rest, building open communication, and providing emotional appreciation to their partners.
The highlight of the event was a session delivered by PT Bukit Asam’s Strategic Human Capital Division Head, Fenny Widyastuti. During this session, Fenny invited participants to engage in deep self-reflection on family relationships.
An emotional atmosphere filled the room as Fenny played a video and guided the participants through an introspective session. Many participants, especially the wives, were moved to tears as they realized the significant risks faced by their partners while working in the field.
Inesdola, the wife of Doni Susanto (an employee of PT Madhani Talatah Nusantara), admitted that the session opened her eyes to the heavy workload borne by a mining operator.
“From now on, I must become the best support system. I need to better understand my husband’s condition and set aside my ego, because his peace of mind at work greatly depends on the situation at home,” she said.
The event concluded with prize giveaways and an ice-breaking activity titled “Tepuk Sakinah.” Guided by the organizing committee, all couples were invited to move in unison to a cheerful clapping rhythm, symbolizing harmony within the household.
Laughter from the activity, combined with the distribution of various grand prizes, successfully transformed the previously emotional atmosphere into a renewed sense of optimism. It is hoped that this spirit will be carried home to help realize zero accidents, beginning with warmth and harmony within the family.
