HBAP Achieves International Recognition Through Its Green Yard-Based Agribusiness Program

Jakarta, October 13, 2025 – PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) has once again achieved international recognition through the Asian Impact Award 2025, organized by La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and Portman College Malaysia.
The Asian Impact Award is a prestigious event that honors companies across Asia for their verified and impactful social and environmental innovations. At this year’s event, HBAP received the Sustainable Livelihood Empowerment Award for its success in implementing the HBAP Village Program (Hijau Berbasis Agribisnis Pekarangan)—a community empowerment initiative focused on optimizing household yards into productive and sustainable sources of income.
Implemented in Tanjung Lalang Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, the program has empowered 44 families to transform their home yards into productive farmland. The agricultural practices use organic fertilizers and pesticides, producing healthy, chemical-free vegetables that are directly supplied to the HBAP canteen as part of the local supply chain. Since joining the program, members of the farmer group have experienced a 30% increase in income on average.
The farmer group behind the initiative, named Riejalang Lestari, carries the motto “Lestari Alam, Makmurkan Bumi” (Sustain Nature, Prosper the Earth). The name honors Puyang Riejalang, one of the founders of Tanjung Lalang Village, symbolizing respect for local heritage and serving as a source of inspiration for the members.
The award was received by Giana Hadi Wagiana, HBAP’s HRGA Site & Sustainability Manager, who represented the company during the award ceremony in Selangor, Malaysia.
HBAP’s Director of HRGA & Sustainability, Mia Monasari, stated that the award serves as tangible proof of the company’s commitment to supporting sustainable development rooted in community needs.
“The HBAP Village Program embodies the spirit of collaboration between the company and the community. It was born out of a social mapping process conducted in partnership with Sriwijaya University, ensuring that our interventions genuinely address real community needs. This recognition strengthens our commitment to delivering meaningful impacts for the surrounding communities,” said Mia.
Most of the program participants are women, who play active roles in yard management and compost production from household organic waste. This approach promotes a circular economy that supports household food security while strengthening women’s roles in rural development.
The HBAP Village Program also aligns with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita, specifically point six, which emphasizes developing from the village and from the bottom up to achieve economic equity and poverty reduction. Through a participatory and locally driven approach, HBAP positions itself as a partner for community development across Indonesia.
Through various initiatives—ranging from eco-friendly cultivation training and provision of production tools to market access strengthening—HBAP not only fulfills its role as a major electricity provider in Sumatra but also as a driver of socio-economic growth for local communities.
HBAP’s participation in the Asian Impact Award 2025 demonstrates that its CSR contributions have gained regional recognition and serve as an inspiration for sustainable practices across Southeast Asia.
For reference, PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) is a joint venture between PT Bukit Asam Tbk and China Huadian Hongkong Co. Ltd., focusing on the development and operation of power plants in Indonesia to strengthen national energy resilience.
