Safeguarding the Lifeline of Life: PTBA Reaffirms Its Commitment to River Conservation at the 2026 Indonesia River Conference

Mojokerto, July 28, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of MIND ID, Indonesia's State-Owned Mining Industry Holding, reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting the restoration and preservation of river ecosystems. This commitment was demonstrated through the active participation of the Company's management, alongside the MIND ID Group, in the 2026 Indonesia River Conference, held at Wana Wisata Mata Air Sumber Gempong, Ketapanrame Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java, on Monday (July 27, 2026).
The commemoration of National River Day 2026 served as a crucial momentum for stakeholders to strengthen partnerships, collaboration, and concrete actions toward environmental restoration. The event commenced with a tree-planting activity in a riparian conservation area, followed by the National Ecological Repentance (Tobat Ekologis) Mauidhoh Hasanah, an interactive dialogue, and the reading of the River Communities Declaration.
In his remarks, Indonesia's Minister of Environment, Mr. Jumhur Hidayat, underscored the importance of a collective awareness movement.
"Rivers are the lifeline of our nation. Restoring water quality and river ecosystems cannot be accomplished by the government alone; it requires a collective movement through Ecological Repentance. We must stop polluting and degrading our rivers while strengthening cross-sector collaboration among the government, communities, civil society organizations, and the business sector to create rivers that are clean, healthy, and productive," said Jumhur.
Echoing this message, PTBA President Director Mr. Bambang Ismawan stated that the Company's participation in this strategic forum reflects its commitment to implementing Good Mining Practice principles as well as its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, which are embedded throughout its operations.
"PTBA's participation in the 2026 Indonesia River Conference demonstrates the Company's strong commitment to protecting and restoring Indonesia's rivers. Rivers are not merely water resources; they are the foundation of life for communities living around our operational areas as well as for the nation as a whole. As a member of MIND ID, PTBA remains committed to working closely with the government to integrate river-friendly environmental management practices into mining operations while supporting the Ecological Repentance Movement," said Bambang.
Through its participation in the conference, PTBA aims to strengthen its tangible contributions to protecting water quality, planting erosion-control vegetation, and empowering communities to actively safeguard river ecosystems, thereby supporting sustainable development and ensuring that rivers continue to serve as a vital source of life for future generations in Indonesia.
