Performance Soars, PTBA Prepares Strategic Steps to Preserve Company Value

Jakarta, October 23, 2026 – Amid the dynamics and fluctuations of both domestic and global stock markets, PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) announced that the Company’s Management is currently reviewing various optimal corporate steps and strategies, including the potential option for a share buyback.
This review is being conducted as part of the Company's commitment to maintaining corporate value stability, as well as providing protection and sustainable added value for all shareholders and stakeholders.
PTBA Corporate Secretary Division Head Eko Prayitno stated that the Company continuously monitors macroeconomic developments, energy industry trends, and capital market dynamics closely.
"We understand the importance of responding wisely to market dynamics. Currently, PTBA Management is conducting an in-depth study on various strategic options, including a potential share buyback, to ensure that every decision made is always grounded in measured prudence, Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles, and the prevailing regulatory frameworks," Eko stated in a written release, Thursday (22/10/2026).
This strategic move is supported by the Company's highly solid fundamental achievements. Amid the challenges and dynamics of the global energy industry, PTBA successfully recorded sharp financial growth throughout the first half of this year.
In the first semester of 2026 (H1 2026), PTBA recorded revenue of IDR 22.03 trillion, representing an 8% year-on-year (YoY) increase. The Company's net profit reached IDR 2.65 trillion, growing significantly by 218% YoY. These results were supported by an operational recovery in the second quarter, stronger export sales, and an improvement in the average coal selling price.
Operationally, PTBA recorded coal production of 19.45 million tons, with total sales volume reaching 21.10 million tons. Export sales accounted for 10.33 million tons, an increase of approximately 5% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Meanwhile, meeting the energy demands of the domestic market—to safeguard national energy security—remains the primary priority, with realized sales reaching 10.77 million tons, absorbing approximately 51% of the Company's total sales up to the H1 2026 period.
Management emphasized that any considerations taken will account for liquidity aspects, working capital requirements, and the fulfillment of the Company’s long-term business development plans. PTBA's primary focus remains on maintaining solid operational performance, cost efficiency, as well as sustaining its transformation agenda and achieving national energy sovereignty.
"If the in-depth review leads Management to execute the share buyback plan or any other strategic corporate action, PTBA will promptly issue an official information disclosure in accordance with the regulations set by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX)," Eko concluded.
