Grand Harvest of Potassium Humate Rice Demonstrates Coal Downstreaming in Support of National Food Security

Tanjung Karangan, March 9, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) held a Grand Harvest event for the Agricultural Implementation of Potassium Humate and Coal Downstreaming in Tanjung Karangan Village, Tanjung Agung District, Muara Enim Regency, on Monday (9/3/2026).
The event is part of the series of celebrations for PTBA’s 45th Anniversary, carrying the spirit of transformation and sustainable contributions to the community.
PTBA President Director Arsal Ismail stated that the Grand Harvest on a 3.5-hectare rice field reflects the company’s commitment to improving the welfare of communities, particularly those in the Muara Enim area.
The implementation of potassium humate on this agricultural land is part of efforts to strengthen food security for surrounding communities. The program is also expected to increase the income of local farmers.
“Before using potassium humate, it was mentioned that from 0.8 hectares the yield was around 3.5 tons. After applying potassium humate, the estimated harvest could increase by up to 1 ton. We hope this will significantly improve farmers’ income. This is truly a blessing,” he said.
Through the implementation of potassium humate, PTBA aims to demonstrate its commitment to coal downstreaming initiatives that can deliver broad benefits, including for the agricultural sector. This program is expected to increase land productivity while strengthening food security for communities around the company’s operational areas.
Arsal added that the grand harvest also symbolizes synergy between the company, local government, and the community in promoting sustainable development. According to him, this program further emphasizes that coal is not only a source of energy but also a hidden source of life.
“As a state-owned enterprise, we will continue to innovate and collaborate in research and development to increase the added value of coal,” he emphasized.
On the same occasion, the Regent of Muara Enim Edison, represented by the Expert Staff for Community Affairs and Human Resources of Muara Enim Regency Ulil Amri, expressed appreciation for PTBA’s initiative in developing coal downstreaming innovations that have a direct impact on the agricultural sector.
The innovation carried out by PTBA through the utilization of potassium humate is considered a highly important program to increase agricultural productivity while also improving the welfare of farmers in Muara Enim Regency.
Synergy between the local government and the business sector is key to strengthening regional economic development, particularly in the agricultural sector, which remains one of the main pillars of the community’s economy.
The grand harvest event was also attended by the Board of Commissioners, Board of Directors, and management of PTBA, along with representatives from local government institutions, including the Muara Enim Police Chief, the Muara Enim Military Commander (Danramil), the Head of Tanjung Karangan Village, the Head of Tanjung Agung District, the Agriculture Office, Koperasi Merah Putih, farmer groups, and members of the local community involved in the potassium humate implementation program in the Tanjung Karangan area.
