PTBA's Coal Sales Reach 21.10 Million Tons in the First Half of 2026

Jakarta, July 24, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), a member of MIND ID, Indonesia's State-Owned Mining Industry Holding, delivered solid operational performance throughout the first half of 2026.
Amid favorable coal market conditions and stronger prices compared to the previous year, the Company continued to maintain operational reliability, strengthen its supply chain, and optimize the fulfillment of both domestic and export market demand.
During the first half of 2026, PTBA recorded coal production of 19.45 million tons. Supported by optimal inventory levels, the Company achieved coal sales of 21.10 million tons.
PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan stated that the Company's operational performance during the period reflects its commitment to ensuring the sustainability of coal production and supply to customers.
"This achievement provides a strong foundation for the Company to continue creating added value for all stakeholders," Bambang said.
As of the first half of 2026, domestic coal sales reached 10.77 million tons, accounting for approximately 51% of total sales, while export sales totaled 10.33 million tons, representing the remaining 49%. Export sales increased by around 5% compared to the same period last year, supported by strong demand from key export destinations, including Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, and Thailand.
Nevertheless, Bambang emphasized that meeting domestic market demand remains the Company's top priority, particularly in supporting Indonesia's national energy security. Coal sales to the PLN Group reached 7.78 million tons during the first half of 2026.
Overall, coal sales for Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) requirements accounted for approximately 55% of total production, well above the government's minimum DMO requirement of 25%. This demonstrates PTBA's strong commitment to securing coal supply for Indonesia's energy needs while continuing to capitalize on opportunities in the export market.
On the logistics front, PTBA transported 18.15 million tons of coal through June 2026. Rail transportation accounted for 17.47 million tons, reflecting the reliability of the Company's logistics infrastructure in supporting efficient coal distribution.
Bambang added that the Company continues to implement selective mining practices to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of its mining operations. As of the first half of 2026, PTBA recorded a stripping ratio of 5.26x, remaining within the Company's annual target of 5.63x.
To support sustainable operations and business expansion, PTBA continued to realize its capital expenditure (capex), primarily allocated to the development of logistics infrastructure, including the Tanjung Enim–Kramasan coal transportation project and the Banko In-Pit Conveyor development, both of which are expected to enhance the Company's operational performance over the long term.
"Entering the second half of 2026, PTBA will continue to strengthen operational reliability, maintain cost efficiency, optimize both domestic and export markets, and advance various strategic projects to support the Company's sustainable growth amid the dynamic global coal industry," Bambang concluded.
