Commemorating Mining and Energy Day, PTBA Strengthens Its Role in Advancing Energy Independence

Jakarta, September 28, 2026 — In commemoration of Mining and Energy Day, PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), a member of MIND ID, the Mining Industry Holding, is strengthening its contribution to national energy security through coal supply, downstream industry development, community empowerment, and sustainable environmental management. These efforts align with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita agenda, particularly its goals of achieving energy independence and increasing the added value of natural resources.
PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan stated that the company continues to pursue business transformation to meet energy needs while creating benefits for communities and the environment.
“PTBA is committed to maintaining reliable national energy supplies, developing downstream industries, and conducting responsible mining operations. We aim to ensure that the resources we manage generate added value and sustainable benefits for Indonesia,” Bambang said.
In addition to supplying coal for domestic consumption and export markets, PTBA is developing downstream industries to increase the added value of its resources. One such initiative is the development of potassium humate in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University (UGM). PTBA is also advancing the development of dimethyl ether (DME) as part of its efforts to diversify energy sources.
PTBA Director of Commercial & Supply Chain Rifqi Hari Muji emphasized that meeting domestic demand remains the company’s priority, while maintaining reliable supplies for global markets.
“PTBA’s strategic priority is to safeguard domestic energy security while serving as a reliable supply partner in global commodity markets. We continue to optimize our operations and supply chain to meet domestic demand and honor our commitments to international customers,” Rifqi explained at Coaltrans Asia 2026 in Bali on Monday (September 28, 2026).
PTBA’s commitment is also reflected in its Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) programs, which include empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), supporting education, and improving public health. In the environmental sector, the company carries out post-mining land reclamation, promotes productive land utilization, and develops new and renewable energy.
Through the momentum of Mining and Energy Day, PTBA continues to strengthen its role in advancing energy independence, increasing the added value of natural resources, promoting community welfare, and preserving the environment.
