PTBA Holds Mass Circumcision

Circumcision was one of teachings in Islam aimed to maintain personal hygiene. In addition, circumcision was also obedience proof and obedience of The Creator commandement. However, circumcision fee sometimes was an obstacle for poor families. Therefore, PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk or PTBA conducted Mass Circumcision as one of its CSR program in Bukit Asam Park Ccafeteria Building, Tanjung Enim on Sunday (2015, 14th June). Conducted partnership with Nature Lovers Community (KAPTA), PTBA Employees Cooperative (Kopkarbara) and the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI).
25 children from poor families in Lawang Kidul District were circumcised. The program was an PTBA annual event before month of Ramadhan. It strated from morning end ended on 12.00 at noon. After circumcised, the children were awarded caps, gloves and Ramadhan parcel eventhough still walked limply and cryed. However their cryed faces finally turned into lovely smiles. The program aims to ease the burden of the orphans and dissemination of personal hygiene from an early age.
Medically, circumcision has many benefits. First, male intimate organ became easier to be cleaned. Cleanliness protected boys and men from the deadly infectious diseases. Second, it was easier for infection to attack men who are not circumcised despite the risk of urinary tract infection. Third if not circumcised, male at risk of suffering inflammation that leads to various health problems since the circumcised part was the place for many bacteria to growt. Last but not least, circumcision benefits to prevent cancer. Hopefully through this program, PTBA able to improve public health in Tanjung Enim.
