PTBA Maintains Performance and Strengthens Business Portfolio for Long-Term Growth

Jakarta, September 7, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, continues to maintain its operational and financial performance while strengthening its business portfolio to support sustainable long-term growth.
In the first half of 2026, PTBA recorded revenue of Rp22.03 trillion, an 8% increase year-on-year (YoY). The Company posted a net profit of Rp2.65 trillion, representing a 218% YoY growth. This performance was supported by an operational recovery in the second quarter, stronger export sales, and an improvement in the average selling price of coal.
Operationally, PTBA recorded coal production of 19.45 million tons and coal sales of 21.10 million tons. Export sales reached 10.33 million metric tons, an increase of about 5% compared to the same period last year, with the largest export destinations being Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, and Thailand. Meanwhile, domestic sales total 10.77 million metric tons, or about 51% of total sales.
The improvement in coal prices also contributed positively to the Company’s performance. In the first half of 2026, the Newcastle Index increased by 25% YoY, while ICI-3 rose by 15% YoY, driving a 10% YoY increase in PTBA’s average selling price (ASP). This supported higher revenue and profitability amid fluctuations in production and sales volumes.
PTBA President Director, Bambang Ismawan, said the achievement provides a solid foundation for the Company to pursue further growth by strengthening its core business while developing new sources of growth.
“Entering a period with more favorable operational conditions, the company has successfully driven a recovery in production performance while strengthening export sales, both on a quarterly and annual basis. We are leveraging the momentum from stronger global coal prices through an adaptive sales strategy, complemented by efficiency programs to maintain cost discipline,” said Bambang.
Strengthening Infrastructure and the Supply Chain
To strengthen its core business, PTBA continues to develop its mining and logistics infrastructure. The Tanjung Enim–Kramasan project is one of the Company’s strategic projects aimed at increasing transportation capacity and strengthening its coal logistics and distribution system.
As of now, the Tanjung Enim–Kramasan project has reached approximately 93% completion. PTBA has also secured a financing commitment through a Term Sheet with Himbara banks for a Senior Term Loan Facility of up to Rp3.56 trillion.
PTBA is also committed to accelerating the realization of the strategic development of the Coal Handling Facility (CHF) and Train Loading Station (TLS) 6–7 along the Tanjung Enim–Kramasan coal transportation route. The development of this infrastructure is aimed at strengthening coal transportation and loading capacity while supporting supply chain efficiency.
“Strengthening infrastructure is an integral part of our strategy to improve business efficiency and competitiveness. We continue to accelerate the development of the Tanjung Enim–Kramasan project as well as the CHF and TLS 6–7 facilities to further integrate our coal logistics system and optimally support customer needs,” Bambang continued.
Accelerating Downstream Development and Diversification
As part of its business transformation, PTBA continues to pursue downstream development and diversification to increase the added value of its resources while building new sources of growth.
In downstream development, PTBA, together with strategic partners, continues to explore the development of Dimethyl Ether (DME) and Methanol, including aspects related to technology, economic feasibility, and business models.
The Company is also developing Potassium Humate, a product derived from coal processing that has the potential to support the agricultural sector. Currently, the Potassium Humate pilot plant has a capacity of approximately 171 tons per year, with a development target of up to 10,000 tons per year.
“Downstream development is one of our key focuses in creating greater added value. We see significant potential in PTBA’s resources to be developed into value-added products, including DME, Methanol, and Potassium Humate,” Bambang explained.
Developing Renewable Energy
PTBA is also expanding its portfolio into the renewable energy sector, including through its cooperation with PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) to explore the development of solar power plants (PLTS) within PTBA’s operational areas.
The PLTS development covers various potential assets and locations owned by the Company, including the utilization of reclaimed post-mining land. To date, PTBA’s total PLTS portfolio has reached approximately 1.2 MWp.
This cooperation forms part of PTBA’s strategy to optimize its assets, strengthen its renewable energy portfolio, support the energy transition, and create new sources of growth.
Going forward, PTBA will continue to identify various potential projects in downstream development, renewable energy, asset and post-mining land optimization, as well as other potential business areas. Each project will be assessed selectively, taking into consideration economic feasibility, technological readiness, market certainty, investment requirements, and potential synergies with the Company’s existing businesses.
Bambang emphasized that the coal business remains PTBA’s core strength. At the same time, the Company continues to prepare for changes in the future energy and industrial landscape by developing a more diversified business portfolio while maintaining a prudent approach and a strong focus on value creation.
“Our principle is to build healthy businesses with long-term prospects that create added value for shareholders and stakeholders. By strengthening our core business while developing new businesses, we are optimistic that PTBA can continue to grow and contribute to national energy security and economic development,” Bambang concluded.
