PT. Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk cooperating with Environmental Foundation of South Sumatra held activities of Kalpataru Scout Section on Sunday, 2nd of November, 2014 at 9 AM in Punti Kayu, Palembang, South Sumatra.  The Manager of KBL PTBA, Hasbi Alhamdy, said that his program is a part of CSR PTBA’s program in field of education and training community and to motivate young generation in order to care and conserve the environment.

"Our goal is to help the implementation of training Kalpataru Scout Section of South Sumatra Province in addition to carrying out one of the CSR programs in education and training community. PTBA play an active role in the development of young generation, especially senior high school students who are members of the Kalpataru Scout Section of South Sumatra Province," stated Hasi Alhamdy, PTBA KBL Manager.

Kalpataru Scout Section activities are fostered by Rismawati Gathmyr as the Head of Community Development, Environment Information and BLH Development Sector of South Sumatra Province along with the coaches who came from BLH of South Sumatra Province.

Rismawati Gathmyr explained that the Kalpataru Scout Section activities are applying the real practice in field of biodiversity and climate change. It is important for the scouts to care about the environment.

“Kalpataru Scout Section activities are a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2013 between the Ministry of Environment and National Quarters. This is the most recent program which is for the first time held in South Sumatra. Therefore, through this activity we invite the students to care about the environment,” stated Rismawati.

Beside doing those activities, on 5-7th of November, 2014, they also gave plant seeds to four Adiwiyata schools , which are located in Baturaja, Muara Enim, Lahat and Pagaralam.
