Celebrating its 45th Anniversary, PTBA Strengthens its Commitment to Environmental Sustainability and Occupational Health and Safety
Lampung, March 4, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk Tarahan Port Unit organized a tree-planting initiative across both external and internal operational areas of the Company. The activity was part of the National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Month series and also marked the Company’s 45th Anniversary.
PTBA Corporate Secretary Division Head, Eko Prayitno, stated that through this greening initiative, the Company reaffirmed its commitment to continuously contributing to environmental preservation while fostering collective awareness that occupational safety and environmental sustainability are two interrelated and inseparable aspects.
“This greening initiative aims to encourage all employees to recognize that a healthy environment has a significant impact on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), while also serving as a tangible manifestation of the Company’s commitment to environmental sustainability,” he explained.
The external greening activity was symbolically carried out on February 5, 2026, at the KUPS Karya Sejati Education House, Forest Farmer Group (KTH) Rangai Sejahtera, Pulau Pasir Hamlet, Rangai Tri Tunggal Village, Katibung Sub-district, South Lampung Regency.
During the event, PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk Tarahan Port handed over 1,000 nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) seedlings to KTH Rangai Sejahtera as the area manager. The symbolic planting was conducted by the Tarahan Port Management Team together with leaders of subsidiaries and affiliated companies, representatives of relevant institutions, and the Head of Rangai Tri Tunggal Village.
Nutmeg was selected due to its significant ecological benefits as a conservation plant within an agroforestry system, which not only supports environmental sustainability but also provides economic value for the community.
KTH Rangai Sejahtera expressed appreciation for the support in the form of 1,000 nutmeg seedlings. The assistance is considered highly beneficial in strengthening agroforestry development and improving land productivity. Furthermore, the activity provided an opportunity for the group to showcase their management results, particularly nutmeg-derived products, thereby encouraging increased economic value and the welfare of its members.
Meanwhile, the greening activities in the internal area of Tarahan Port were conducted in stages from February 6 to 13, 2026, at An-Nur Mosque and Stockpile 4 (seaward side). The activity involved employees and business partners of Tarahan Port.
The planted seedlings were predominantly sea pine and glodokan tiang, along with several other plant species adjusted to the soil conditions and quality in the operational area. This initiative is expected to improve the quality of the working environment, enhance the port area’s aesthetics, and support the sustainable implementation of OHS culture.
