Bukit Asam’s Rumah BUMN Encourages Community to Turn Aromatic Candles into Value-Added Creations
Tanjung Enim, September 10, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, continues to encourage the development of community creativity and skills through various educational and practical activities. One such initiative is an aromatic candle-making workshop featuring cake-shaped candles, held at Rumah BUMN Bukit Asam.
The workshop, themed “Boost Your Creativity!”, was attended by 20 selected participants. Participants had the opportunity to learn the process of making aromatic candles while honing their creativity in producing handicrafts with aesthetic appeal and economic potential.
During the workshop, participants were directly involved in various stages of the candle-making process, from shaping the candles and selecting colors and designs to adding fragrances. The cake-shaped candle concept was chosen to create products that are visually appealing while offering decorative and functional value.
PTBA Micro & Small Enterprise Funding Section Head, Weny Yuliastuti, said the activity is part of the Company’s efforts to provide a space for the community to learn, develop skills, and explore business opportunities.
“Through this aromatic candle-making workshop, we hope participants will continue to explore ideas and develop the creations they have made, rather than stopping at the skills gained during the activity. With creativity and innovation, simple products can gain added value and have the potential to be further developed into business opportunities,” said Weny.
She added that innovation is an important asset in creating products that are attractive and responsive to market needs. Therefore, beyond technical skills, participants were also encouraged to explore opportunities for product development in terms of design, packaging, innovation, and marketing.
The workshop was conducted interactively, with participants taking part in every stage of the candle-making process. In addition to creating their own products, participants were encouraged to explore various ideas by utilizing simple materials and techniques.
Weny added that through Rumah BUMN Bukit Asam, PTBA continues to provide a space for community learning and capacity building, particularly in creativity and productive skills.
“We hope this workshop will broaden participants’ perspectives on developing value-added products, which can subsequently be enhanced through design variations, product innovation, and marketing strategies,” she concluded.
