Targeting the Youth, PTBA Inspires Elementary Students Through Green School
Tanjung Enim, July 20, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), a member of MIND ID, Indonesia's State-Owned Mining Industry Holding, continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental conservation through various initiatives, including its Green School program.
The Green School program is part of PTBA's series of activities commemorating World Environment Day 2026, which carries the theme "Time to Work for the Climate." The theme encourages all members of society to take tangible action in protecting environmental sustainability, including by fostering environmental awareness among the younger generation.
Through this program, PTBA provides students with education on the importance of environmental conservation and proper waste management. Beyond classroom learning, participants are also encouraged to take part in hands-on activities such as tree planting and school clean-up campaigns, helping instill environmental responsibility from an early age.
"We believe that schools are the ideal place to cultivate environmental values from an early age. Through the Green School program, we want children not only to understand the importance of protecting the environment but also to develop habits of taking practical actions that they can apply in their daily lives," said Eko Prayitno, Corporate Secretary Division Head of PTBA.
The program was held on June 17–18, 2026, across ten elementary schools located within the company's Ring 1 operational area: SDN 1 Lawang Kidul, SDN 2 Lawang Kidul, SDN 6 Lawang Kidul, SDN 7 Lawang Kidul, SDN 8 Lawang Kidul, SDN 13 Lawang Kidul, SDN 16 Lawang Kidul, SDN 18 Lawang Kidul, SDN 20 Lawang Kidul, and SDN 23 Lawang Kidul.
Chairman of the PTBA World Environment Day 2026 Organizing Committee, Muh. Dwiki Satrio Wicaksono, expressed his hope that Green School would become more than a ceremonial event, serving instead as the starting point for building a culture of environmental responsibility both at school and within families.
He emphasized that simple habits—such as disposing of waste properly, caring for plants, and encouraging others to keep their surroundings clean—may seem small but can make a significant contribution to environmental preservation.
"We remain committed to strengthening a culture of environmental stewardship, not only within our operational areas but also together with the surrounding communities, as part of our commitment to supporting sustainable development and creating a greener future," Dwiki said.
In addition to Green School, PTBA has organized a wide range of activities as part of its World Environment Day 2026 celebration, including the World Environment Day Commemoration Ceremony, Green Mining through tree planting, River Exploration, Fish Fingerling Release and River Clean-Up, the Environmental Knowledge Competition, Environmental Innovation Video Competition, Workshop Housekeeping Program, Zero Waste Hero, Zero Emission Movement: Sustainability Discovery Lab, Environmental Talk Show, and the closing ceremony of the World Environment Day series.
Meanwhile, the Battle of Waste competition will continue through November 2026, encouraging continuous innovation in sustainable waste management.
