Enhancing Public Safety, PTBA Strengthens Collaboration to Build the Simpang Belimbing and Ujan Mas Flyovers

Muara Enim, July 7, 2026 – PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), together with the South Sumatra Provincial Government and other stakeholders, has strengthened its collaboration in the construction of flyovers at the JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas level crossings in Muara Enim Regency.
This commitment was reaffirmed through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS), which provides the framework for implementing the projects in a transparent and accountable manner.
PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan stated that the construction of the two flyovers is a strategic initiative to enhance public safety, reduce the risk of accidents at level crossings, and improve the mobility of local communities while supporting the smooth operation of coal railway transportation in South Sumatra.
PTBA views the flyover projects as part of the Company's responsibility to develop safe infrastructure that delivers long-term benefits to the community.
"The construction of the flyovers at JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas is more than just an infrastructure project. It reflects PTBA's social responsibility to protect the safety of communities that frequently travel across railway crossings used by coal transportation. Through the signing of this Cooperation Agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to implementing these projects with transparent and accountable governance," he said.
For the JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing flyover, the construction design has been refined from the initial concept into a new design featuring a bridge span of approximately 654 meters and a total width of 12.5 meters. The improved design incorporates durable materials to meet long-term traffic demands while enhancing road user safety.
Meanwhile, PTBA is also committed to supporting the completion of the JPL 111 Ujan Mas flyover through the same governance mechanism and implementation framework. This reflects the spirit of collaboration that continues to be fostered with the government and all stakeholders.
Bambang added that the successful completion of both flyovers depends not only on funding and technical excellence but also on strong collaboration and close coordination among all parties involved.
"We encourage all stakeholders to maintain the strong synergy and coordination that have been established to ensure the smooth implementation of these projects. We hope these flyovers will deliver optimal benefits to the people of Muara Enim Regency and South Sumatra as a whole," Bambang added.
On the same occasion, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru expressed his appreciation for the collaboration between PTBA, the government, and all stakeholders in delivering infrastructure that directly benefits the public.
"The construction of these flyovers is a tangible example of the synergy between the government and the business sector in providing infrastructure that enhances public safety and improves community mobility. I hope all parties will continue to uphold their commitment and coordination so that these projects can be completed as planned, allowing the people of South Sumatra, particularly those in Muara Enim Regency, to benefit as soon as possible," Herman Deru said.
The construction of the flyovers at JPL 99 Simpang Belimbing and JPL 111 Ujan Mas is expected to provide a long-term solution for improving safety at railway level crossings while strengthening regional connectivity and supporting local economic activities.
As a world-class energy company committed to environmental stewardship, PTBA continues to prioritize collaboration in delivering sustainable development—not only to support the Company's operations but also to create a safer environment for communities in their daily activities.
